…When I Say Yes…

I dream about you often;

…Of a life together, of many days of laughter and some few moments of tears even.

I dream of the endless memories we’ll be creating, and the many long late-night talks of nothing yet everything.

Call me a helpless romantic, it is my dream anyway….and what’s yours?

But then;

Sometimes, I wonder how a couple so in love could end up divorced?

What happened in between “I do” and “I no longer can”?

How did they get to not being able to stand each other’s mere sight?

Was preparation not considered and consulted?

Was love not enough?

Did understanding not dwell with them?

Where did communication go to?

What happened to honesty and trust?

And well, while I may never entirely understand this (for one thing because, we’ll never get there🙏🏽🥰), at least I’ll understand what I’m signing up for when I say Yes.

Because my “Yes” is a really really big deal to me, I took time to assess what really, I’ll be signing up for when I do utter that beautifully huge word.

Dear love, I’d have you know what I mean when I say Yes.

So, when I say Yes;

I’m saying Yes to submitting to you always, forever, realizing that it’s really unto the Lord, and the functioning of the God-ordained union is above my personal desires.

When I say Yes, I’m saying Yes to honouring and doing you good all the days of my life.

When I say Yes, I’m saying Yes to the mindset, perspectives, attitudes, etc. that will be passed on, to our children.

When I say Yes, I’m saying Yes to agreeing and supporting your values, standards, and goals.

When I say Yes;

I’m saying Yes to carrying on for you on days when you can’t go on.

I’m saying Yes to being your lifelong inspirational and motivational speaker.

I’m saying Yes to my calling as a help-meet; to stand by and with you always, ensuring that this union glorifies God who established it.

I’m saying Yes to being your companion and best friend, to being your 1st human go-to, and always being there for you.

I’m saying Yes to being your greatest and numero Uno fan, your “always rooting for you” cheerleader. (hopefully, the children will be dancing behind me😁💃🏽🕺🏽)

In me you’ll find not just your better half, but your best whole.✨👩‍❤️‍👨🥂

But for now, I’ll be content saying Yes to the Lord.

Saying Yes to His work; the field of souls being indeed plenteous.

Saying Yes to His Word; to abide in Him always, and resting from my own works.

Saying Yes to His joy being my strength.

While I’m waiting, I’ll concentrate on;

Saying Yes to serving Him as my King, and serving others also.

Saying Yes to using my talents, abilities and inabilities likewise, resources and experiences to glorify Him, as my Lord.

Saying Yes to his love; ever abounding, renewed day by day, no less/much more than the day I first came to Him.

Saying Yes to his promises of sealing my Salvation with a sure guarantee till the day of his appearing.

For now, I’ll keep on;

Saying Yes to carrying my cross, and dying to self-daily.

Ultimately, Saying Yes to his will for my life, and I pray I have the strength to accept being a “Paulina” – if that’s His will for me in this regard.
