MUSINGS OF A TALKATIVE PT 2

Dear Love of my life,

I trust you have had a good day? I talked about a conversation with a friend in my previous post (please read if you have not done so).

In the course of our conversation, we realized that a lot of the things mentioned in part one of this post are happening because we have missed out on WHO WE ARE.

We are facing a serious identity crisis, we have allowed ourselves to be defined by others and the world around us instead of our maker and our inner selves. We have refused to listen to the voices within us, the voice of the Spirit and the voice of conscience. Our identity is now defined by the dictates of social media which tell us we can be beautiful if we look like dogs and cats. Many are ashamed to accept their very selves because they do not match up to some so-called standards or because they do not have what the filters depict in real life.

People are finding it difficult to accept themselves or appreciate the beauty nature has endowed them with. The whole definition of beauty in itself now resides in filters and body enhancements. We no longer pay attention to inner wealth and intrinsic beauty and so many of us are left empty-headed, stupid and naive. We proudly advertise our ignorance because the media has lost its focus and rather pays attention to and advertises stupidity.

Many have engaged in illicit relationships and have lost their value because they seek the approval of friends and family. Things that were taboos and shameful a few years ago are now done in the open all in the name of modernity. To quote from my favorite apologist, we have lost our imagination and grown up with the irrationality of the modern world. We have become violent and perverted and now seek meaning and pleasure in mundane things.

Our chasing after pleasure has failed us and so at the end of the day, the young man or lady is left empty and asking “who am I” (a question of purpose). Many have been lost in the quest of trying to “fit in like everyone else”

Standing for what you really are now has become a difficult thing to do, you are either called “Jon” meaning “not knowing the new way of life” or “Ochapi” meaning “solely based on knowing things about Christ”.

But our carelessness will cost us gravely if we do not take care. The consequences lie ahead of us and our generation to bear. We are treading on dangerous paths that leave me wondering how our future as a nation and a generation is going to be like.

The questions for you now, my dear is “Who are you?”, where do you derive the definition of yourself and the meaning of your life from?  and How do you answer these five questions?

  1. who am I (identity)?
  2. where do I come from (Origin)?
  3. what can I do (Ability)?
  4. why am I here (Purpose)?
  5. where am I going (destination)?

Please take your time to go through these questions carefully. I am sure you agree with my grievances, I am sure you may be asking me how then do I want us to live or how then should we live in spite of all these? That is the exact question I would like you to sit down, reflect and answer. I hope to hear from you with the answer one day.

Sorry for sounding so strict and angry today. You know I love you even before we get to meet right?…we could even be friends now…lol. I dare you to be different, don’t lose track of who you really are, everything you will ever become in life depends on that.

 I love this quote from Malcolm Muggeridge ;

“Only dead fish  move with the stream”

don’t be a dead fish, dead fish stinks…lol, stand out and be a difference. I dare you to be different too. Like the Hebrew boys, let us not bow to the madness of the century and modernity, Remember we have a generation of great men and women to raise for God.

PS. Try to listen to the message “the quest for meaning by Ravi Zacharias”

I will be hoping to hear from you soon.

Yours truly,

p.
